Discovering 3D modelling

Project 1

Module 1

In this module I started creating my first ever 3D objects after we were asked to choose items in our home similar to primitive shapes and complex shapes.

Activity 1

A Booster Juice water bottle that I won by spinning a wheel.

I drink a lot of Coke when I get thirsty so I wanted to represent that part of me.

A chicken plushie my family got during easter as a present from my grandma.

My sister who worked at mcdonalds brought this happy meal toy back home to give it to me.

When I get bored I play with the putty inside of this tin as something to keep my hands busy.

One of my two favorite characters from Genshin Impact, I got this standee from Sukoshi Mart in square one.

Another of my favorite characters from Genshin Impact, this one is a keychain that I got as a part of a music festival celebration.

A different angle of the keychain to show its depth and the shadows it casts clearer.

The pair of glasses I wear to see, if I didn't have these I would be struggling a lot more on this project.

During the making of the can model I had to decide whether I wanted to use a cylinder or a torus for the top lip. I decided on a torus because the shape was already rounded so it was closer to the real object.

The making of the acrylic stand was easy with two primitive shapes next to eachother. I wanted to try making the corners rounded but I couldn't think of a way to do it that worked.

Modelling the acrylic keychain was easy since its main shape was a square, but I struggled a bit with the smaller details like the small extruding circular part with the chain on it- it was hard to get it centered and the right size.

I didn't expect the water bottle to be as complicated as it was, but it was fun. To get the top of the bottle to taper to the lid properly, I found that I had to separate the bottle into multiple sections.

The bottom of the bottle was the most interesting to model because I had to convert the primitive shapes into a poly and edit each section individually to extrude the bottom parts out.

For easier workflow and because I was trying to troubleshoot not having correct program files for C4D to use certain materials, I placed all the objects into one file.

The plastics were the hardest to get a material for because I didn't know how to make them transparent. I found I had to click on the material and edit each parameter to make it work.

Changing the shape of the frames using the polygon surfaces.

Went back to the frame of the glasses after noticing the ends of the frame were pointed and used the edges to smooth it out.

Material Workshop 1
